Presenting a truly unique take on Irish music, Tupelo are a vibrant new name, combining the sounds of Irish traditional with classic American influences. Imagine a heady blend of The Pogues, Springsteen’s Seger Sessions Band, Western swing, jazz, bluegrass and gospel and you’re close to the Tupelo sound. Named after the Mississippi birthplace of Elvis Presley, Tupelo stick to the rhythm ‘n’ roots of rock ‘n’ roll, adding their own unique Irish perspective to the proceedings. Having hit the top ten singles chart their debut album Dirty Money has received rave reviews in all quarters of the press.

Tupelo are an exciting, original, acoustic roots act consisting of an eclectic line-up of instruments which includes banjo, guitar, double bass, mandolin, harmonica, dobro and fiddle played by Castlebars very own Kevin Duffy.

Between headlining shows, appearances at countless festivals, and playing support to some of music's biggest acts, the band loves being on the road and thrives off their fans and live shows. They are now set to take to the stage at the Royal Theatre in Castlebar as special guests to The Horslips on Bank Holiday Sunday 28th October with their fresh and unique sound in today's world of endless electric outfits.

The Royal Theatre are delighted to confirm Ryan Sheridan will be supporting James Morrison on Wednesday 22nd August.

Ryan Sheridan's fine debut long player 'The Day You Live Forever' entered the Irish national charts at # 2; enjoying one of the best opening week sales for any Irish artist in 2011. He was also a featured artist at the historic Concert for Obama on College Green in May.

While entertaining the human traffic of Temple Bar, Ryan and Artur were spotted by his current management team. This led to a showcase at The Academy jam-packed with great and the good of the Dublin media mafia, and a subsequent record deal with leading Irish independent label Rubyworks in summer 2010.

After making his mark on the festival circuit; Ryan has been on the road constantly since. Shows with the likes of Republic Of Loose, Simply Red and Wallis Bird, plus his own high octane gigs, have laid the foundation; and recent sell out tours with Bryan Adams, The Script, Rodrigo y Gabriela & Taylor Swift have raised the bar and introduced him to a much wider audience.

Ryan’s current hit “The Dreamer” was selected by Heineken as the music for the new Heineken ad “Long Story”, and has been well received by all.

Ryan’s debut album “The Day You Live Forever” reached platinum sales in April 2012. Ryan was presented with his platinum disc on stage at his sold out Olympia Theatre headliner in Dublin on Friday 20th April...

There will also be an after party with Buck Taylor in the Café Bar.

Hollywood actress Mischa Barton (The Sixth Sense, The OC) makes her Irish stage debut as Shelby Eatenton, and Anne Charleston (Madge Bishop in Neighbours) plays Ouiser Boudreaux in this all-Ireland Stage Touring Premiere of STEEL MAGNOLIAS.

Directed by Ben Barnes, the original play tells the heart-warming story we came to love on film. An enduring tale of love, loss and friendship, we follow the lives of six Southern women who come together in Truvy’s exclusive Beauty Parlour.

Full of wise-cracking repartée, the women are witty, intelligent and sometimes slightly crazy. Annelle, who’s not sure if she’s still married, is the eager new assistant to the outspoken romantic Truvy who dispenses shampoo and free advice to the town’s rich curmudgeon and dog-loving Ouiser, eccentric millionaire Miss Clairee and classic Southern mother M’Lynn, whose pretty daughter Shelby (a diabetic) is about to get married.

Opening on Shelby’s wedding day, the story moves towards tragedy when she risks pregnancy. The beauty and fragility of her life has a profound effect on all the women, and their underlying strengths of love and friendship make this play truly touching to behold.

Packed with 1980s nostalgia and memorable one-liners, Steel Magnolias is the funniest play ever to make you cry.

Directed by Ben Barnes and and the best night out at the theatre in a long time.

Tickets on sale from Ticketmaster outlets online & nationwide and from the Royal Theatre Box Office on 0818 300 000 or 094 90 23111. Tickets are priced at 25.65.
