Presenting a truly unique take on Irish music, Tupelo are a vibrant new name, combining the sounds of Irish traditional with classic American influences. Imagine a heady blend of The Pogues, Springsteen’s Seger Sessions Band, Western swing, jazz, bluegrass and gospel and you’re close to the Tupelo sound. Named after the Mississippi birthplace of Elvis Presley, Tupelo stick to the rhythm ‘n’ roots of rock ‘n’ roll, adding their own unique Irish perspective to the proceedings. Having hit the top ten singles chart their debut album Dirty Money has received rave reviews in all quarters of the press.

Tupelo are an exciting, original, acoustic roots act consisting of an eclectic line-up of instruments which includes banjo, guitar, double bass, mandolin, harmonica, dobro and fiddle played by Castlebars very own Kevin Duffy.

Tupelo formed in the winter of 2008 in Dublin and can attribute their progress to relentless giging up and down the country, honing their craft doing so. Between headlining shows, appearances at countless festivals, and playing support to some of music's biggest acts, the band loves being on the road and thrives off their fans and live shows. They are now set to take to the stage at the Royal Theatre in Castlebar as special guests to The Horslips on Bank Holiday Sunday 28th October with their fresh and unique sound in today's world of endless electric outfits.

In May 2011 Tupelo signed to Crashed Records and released their 14 track debut album 'Dirty Money' on September 23rd. An appearance at the All-Ireland Hurling Final at Croke Park in front of 80,000 people was the opportunity of a lifetime for Tupelo, and a promising road lies ahead for the band. Tupelo have since released three singles from the album, 'Don't Let Go' 'Firefly', with the songs garnering plentiful radio play from stations up and down the nation.
