THE RUBBERBANDITS

With their debut album "Serious About Men" all over the Irish charts last Christmas and new single Spoiling Ivan clocking up the views, the RubberBandits have just announced a quintet of live shows, which will include the Royal Theatre in Castlebar for some St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations. Mr. Chrome and Blindboy Boatclub kick off the live shenanigans on the 17th March and are joined on the night by Social Welfare, an alternative rock 5 piece band from Castlebar who have just finished their first album, which included the single ‘Home’, recently released for Cancer Research. 21 outs will also take to the stage, this energetic 3-piece band from Ballina have previously appeared in Hotpress magazine.  Their music is predominantly Blues influenced Melodic Rock with a dirty edge. Also making an appearance on the night is Struck, a young energetic, three-piece pop punk band from Castlebar.
With such a line up of Live Irish Talent, and even more to be announced for the after party, this is a Paddy’s Day Gig to be reckoned with.
The RubberBandits are currently coming off the back of new single “Black Man and have also launched their debut album “Serious About Men” earlier this month.  A double-CD packed with tracks old and new, prank phone calls and more. It is everything you have come to expect from the RubberBandits and then some.
Having shot to worldwide fame in 2010, it’s been a momentous year for the comedy hip-hop outfit. Blindboy Boat Club and Mr. Chrome became internet superstars after “Horse Outside” premiered on RTE’s Republic of Telly and subsequently went viral (over 8 million views and counting!).??
Critically acclaimed shows at Oxegen and Electric Picnic, storming UK festival appearances at Reading and Leeds, a sold out run of shows in New York combined with sell out shows all over Ireland kept the bandit boys busy in 2011. Throw in filming a four part series, a live show with MTV in the USA, an Ifta award and working with Father Ted director Declan Lowney on Channel 4’s Blaps series of online films, and you can see it was quite a year for our rascally hip hop duo.?
2012 has kicked off with a sold out Australian Tour and they're back to finish working on a half hour show for Channel Four to air this summer and then head off to the USA and Canada on tour this March.
Heads encased in plastic shopping bags, Blindboy Boat Club and the wiry, semi-naked Mr. Chrome are not to be missed on the 17th March.
