It is already being hailed as one of the funniest Irish comedy plays to ever hit the stage. After sell-out shows in Claremorris, Tubbercurry and other venues as well as a US tour that includes Chicago and Milwaulkee, Midwest Radio presenter Tommy Marren brings his action-packed play “Its the Real McCoy” the Royal Theatre , Castlebar.

The play is set in rural Ireland in the mid 1960’s and its main character is Madge Mulloy (Eileen Slevin) who has spent over 40 years of her life in despair following the disappearance of her husband for no apparent reason.
What unfolds on stage has to be seen to be believed.  The new parish curate Fr. Michael McCoy (Tommy Marren) gets news about her husband Tom (Ollie Rouse) and his wishes to return to her to explain why he left.  However, Madge has to contend with the fact that her only child Maura (Collette McHale) has fallen in love with the local postman Martin Daly (Gerry Glennon) and she doesn’t approve.

She also has regular full blown confrontations with the two nosiest neighbours in Ireland – namely Nora O’Hora (Deirdre O’Meara) and her daughter Cora (Mary Marren). The play is packed with plots and sub-plots, two love stories, a confused curate, a gormless postman and a woman who has a lot of anger and frustration to release!
