Mundy is back in The Royal Theatre Castlebar on Saturday 28th August on a Solo Tour as part of our Ruby Room sessions.
Generally on the bill with Sharon Shannon Big Band alongside Damien Dempsey and Shane Mc Gowan this is Mundy’s first solo show and is eagerly awaited.

Strawberry Blood is Mundy’s fourth studio album and most accomplished to date. Recorded in Grouse Lodge, Co Westmeath and the Cauldron, Dublin by Joe Chester, Strawberry Blood features an intriguing cast of contributors including Shane McGowan (Love is Casino), Gemma Hayes (Fever) and Interference man Fergus O’Farrell (Pepper in My Dreams).

Strawberry Blood is the long-awaited follow up to the Number One album Raining Down Arrows (2004). The subsequent tour was documented on Live & Confusion, a stopgap live album and DVD that impressively notched up double platinum sales and delayed Mundy’s return to the studio due to the unexpected success of the live versions of ‘July’ and ‘Galway Girl’.

His new double Single Head over Heels / I miss the Country  is taken from this current album Strawberry Blood.

He says of the A side Head over Heels
“I wrote this at the height of new found love. There are unwritten rules when you go out with someone for the first time and things that you tell each other and don’t tell each other. It pulls the heart out of me when I sing it. I think I really nailed how I was feeling when I wrote this song.”
